The instrument has a castled stand and having two parallel, plane circular faces between which the test piece is placed for measurement. One of the faces (the anvil).In the measuring spindle there is a stationary lower measuring area of 200 mm2. The movable measuring area is fixed on a bar, which also supports the dead weight load. The pressure between the two faces is 100 kPa + 10 kPa. The measuring indicator is located on the top of the bar is connected with optical transducer.
The bar is lifted and lowered by electrical motor. When you push the button on the side of the instrument, the bar with the movable measuring area is lifted with a specified speed. The speed at which the pressure foot is lowered is controlled automatically and adjusted to 4.0 mm/s + 0.2 mm/s.
Make a few lifting of the upper measuring area and check the zero position. Adjust the zero. Now the instrument is ready for use.
A set of thickness filler guagues, with two value for 0.150 and another 802 ± 2 micron to be used for calibration.
